According to Axios and The Wall Street Journal, the settlement has become one of the largest in the state’s history. The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing sued the creator of World of Warcraft in July 2021, alleging unequal pay and a sexist culture.

The accusation was initially contested by Activision, which also entered into another $18 million settlement in a harassment case the same year. The current settlement includes payments to women who worked at the company in California between October 2015 and December 2020.
